About The Position

The Head Start Teacher's Aide position at Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Action Agency (CMCCAA) involves providing care and support for preschool-aged children in an Extended Care classroom. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood education setting required.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques and strategies for preschool-aged children.
  • Familiarity with early childhood development/early childhood education concepts.
  • Understanding of autism and experience working with children on the autism spectrum is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with family members, co-workers, Head Start staff, and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional early childhood education coursework is a plus.
  • Experience working in a preschool setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing behavior management strategies to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Provide support and supervision to preschool-aged children during daily activities, including playtime, meals, and naptime, ensuring children are supervised at all times.
  • Work closely with children with autism or special needs to ensure their individualized needs are met and they are supported during activities.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher in developing and implementing age-appropriate activities.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
  • Ensure any information concerning children in evening care is documented.
