About the position

The Head Teacher Substitute at Child & Family Service (CFS) is responsible for filling in for the assigned Head Teacher, managing and supervising all aspects of the Head Start Program for their classroom site. This role is crucial in ensuring the continuity of educational services and maintaining the quality of care and education for children aged 3-5. The position requires a strong commitment to the mission of strengthening families and fostering the healthy development of children, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Fill in for the assigned Head Teacher as needed.
• Plan and implement daily curriculum under the supervision of the Program Manager.
• Manage and supervise all aspects of the Head Start Program for the classroom site.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of children in the program.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding children's progress and needs.

Requirements

• Four-Year College Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
• Basic knowledge or training in a specialized field such as social work or business administration.
• Experience working with children ages 3-5 and their families for over two years.
• CPR and First Aid certification required upon hire.
• Valid Hawaii driver's license and clear driver's abstract.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Early Childhood Education or related fields.
• Credential in Child Development Associate program or organized two-year college program.
• Flexibility and willingness to work as a team member.
