About the position

The Head Women's Soccer Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the women's soccer program at Alma College. This includes coaching, recruiting, fitness training, and managing team practices and competitions. The coach will also advocate for the women's program within the campus and local community, ensuring a commitment to diversity and gender equity while serving as a role model for student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct the soccer program in alignment with the college's mission and strategic plan.
  • Ensure an environment that promotes student safety.
  • Monitor progress and eligibility of all student-athletes in collaboration with Athletics Administration and the Center for Student Success.
  • Establish annual recruitment goals with the Director of Athletics and Admissions staff.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with students and their families.
  • Engage actively in college and community events and programs.
  • Collaborate with Student Services and Residence Life staff regarding student needs and behavior issues.
  • Ensure compliance with governing bodies for the soccer program.
  • Establish a fundraising plan in collaboration with the Director of Athletics to meet annual goals.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for the program with the Director of Athletics.
  • Develop practice schedules and a fitness program for the team.
  • Maintain high ethical and moral standards for all aspects of the program.
  • Promote and manage a summer camp program to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Senior Athletic Staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years coaching experience at the collegiate level or successful head coaching experience at the high school level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and MIAA conference rules.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, organizational abilities, event planning, fundraising, financial management, and recruiting.
  • Demonstrated commitment or experience working with diverse populations.
  • Willingness to actively participate in practices.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.
