About the position

The Senior Health and Human Resources Specialist will work under the supervision of the Program Manager of the Nursing Home Program at OHFLAC. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal rules and regulations for nursing homes, specifically those set by the Centers of Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS). The specialist will be responsible for reviewing Plans of Corrections, entering data into the CMS database, and communicating with various stakeholders including providers and licensing boards. Additionally, the role includes managing complaints against nursing homes and maintaining related documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and review all Plans of Corrections (POC) and CMS reports for completeness and compliance with CMS requirements.
  • Enter POC and credible evidence information into the CMS regulated database, Aspen Central Office (ACO).
  • Communicate effectively with providers, Nursing Home Administrators, Physicians, Licensing Boards, and other agencies.
  • Prepare surveyor packets and process the Team Leader CMS 671 Form by entering information into the CMS database survey record.
  • Handle consumer complaints against nursing homes by entering information into the Aspen Complaint and Incident Tracking System (ACTS).
  • Close out resolved complaints and send closure letters.
  • Maintain nursing home resident funds and surety bonds, communicating with the Attorney General's Office for approvals.
  • Assist with the Nursing Home paper filing system and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
  • Four years of full-time, equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in a technical or program area related to the employment area.
  • Post-graduate education in a related field may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the Health and Human Resources series may substitute for required training and experience.
