About the position

The Health and Safety Manager at Dyno Nobel is responsible for leading and coordinating Health, Safety, Security, and Process Safety Management (PSM) activities at the Simsbury Site. This role ensures compliance with legislation, corporate policies, and community expectations while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The manager will oversee the Material Control group and implement industry best practices to achieve Zero Harm and enhance employee wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate Health, Safety, Security, and PSM activities for the Simsbury Site.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, corporate policies, and customer & community expectations.
  • Manage and lead the Material Control group activities ensuring compliance with all policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Promote implementation of industry best practices and sustainable development.
  • Demonstrate commitment to achieving Zero Harm by promoting psychological safety in employees.
  • Assure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
  • Coordinate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and operating procedure reviews.
  • Conduct risk assessments using appropriate tools.
  • Report all hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately.
  • Monitor employee occupational exposures and controls.
  • Support the Occupational Health Nurse in promoting wellness across the site.
  • Participate in Safe Act Observation (SAO) process and incident investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field of Science or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, technical manufacturing, or H&S management.
  • 3+ years in a management or leadership capacity.
  • Certified Safety Professional or other related certification.
  • Understanding and compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and BATF regulations.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing security protocols.
  • Competency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SAP, IMESAFR, Lotus Notes, and incident database.
