About the position
The Health and Safety Supervisor - Public Safety position at ECC is responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements on construction and environmental projects during the Hurricane Helene response efforts. This field position involves overseeing public safety, coordinating accident prevention plans, and promoting health and safety programs at project sites. The role requires effective communication, documentation, and collaboration with subcontractors and project teams to maintain exceptional health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Health and Safety Manager
- Oversee public safety and communications regarding safety
- Coordinate the implementation of Accident Prevention Plans (APP)
- Actively promote and support health and safety programs at project sites
- Oversee the completion of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) preparation and acceptance
- Lead health and safety training for Company staff and subcontractors
- Author health and safety related documentation and reports
- Ensure documentation is organized and stored as required
- Provide guidance to subcontractors and project team members
- Conduct regular inspections to assess health and safety plan adherence
- Take appropriate actions to prevent loss and mitigate risk
- Ensure deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner
- Represent the Company in client and regulatory agency interactions
- Report health and safety incidents to the Company Incident Database
- Conduct related investigations thoroughly
- Communicate and document corrective actions
- Verify implementation of corrective action and track progress
- Supervisor and mentor Health & Safety Technicians
- Review qualifications of subcontractors
- Collaborate with Quality Control counterparts
Requirements
- Ability to communicate in written and oral formats with diplomacy and tact
- Aptitude for exercising independent thinking and reasoning
- Demonstrated success in teaching health and safety concepts
- Skilled in problem solving and leading others without formal authority
- Proven knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers EM 385 1-1, OSHA 1910 and 1926
- Competent in using Microsoft Office products and email systems
- Five years of progressive work experience in health and safety
- Ability to travel for long periods
- Must be able to obtain and maintain military base pass
- Current US Driver's license and good driving record
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field
