About the position

The Health Services Director is a nursing role responsible for coordinating resident care in a WellQuest Living community. This position ensures that residents maintain their independence while receiving necessary medical care under the supervision of attending physicians. The director collaborates with healthcare professionals, assists in modifying treatment regimens, and supervises Care Managers to provide comprehensive care to residents.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate resident care under the medical direction of attending physicians.
• Assist residents and their families in maintaining physical and emotional health.
• Liaison with hospital personnel, physicians, and health-related service agencies.
• Modify treatment regimens to meet residents' physical and psychosocial needs.
• Assist in hiring, evaluating, and supervising Care Managers.
• Share responsibilities for daily resident care with Care Managers.
• Communicate with healthcare professionals regarding resident care needs.
• Perform nursing duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
• Conduct thorough reporting of resident care information to oncoming shifts.
• Complete documentation and encourage use of the Communication Log.
• Coordinate incidental medical and dental care for residents.
• Assist with physician orders and pharmacy delivery of medications.
• Organize medication storage and delivery for each shift.
• Observe residents and collect pertinent data for care.
• Ensure proper documentation regarding changes in condition and incidents.
• Assist Care Managers and Medication Aides in their job requirements.
• Respond promptly to resident and staff needs.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff and residents.
• Perform daily and nightly rounds of the property.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Licensed Vocational or Registered Health Services Director in the applicable state.
• Prefer one (1) year experience in a health care environment, working with cognitively impaired older adults.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations consistent with medication delivery.
• Ability to work patiently with cognitively impaired individuals.
• Ability to analyze stressful situations and conceive creative courses of action.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to explain work duties to staff and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare professionals, residents, and their families.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a health care environment with older adults.
