About the position

Williamsburg Landing, a CARF-accredited Life Plan Community, is seeking a Health Care Administrator to provide oversight of our licensed nursing facility, which includes skilled care, long-term care, and therapy. This position reports to the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the management and oversight of the Assisted Living department. The Health Care Administrator will implement a resident-centered model of care delivery, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards (CARF-CCAC). The role requires a strong commitment to leadership and direction for the overall operation of both the Health & Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living, ensuring high-quality resident care that emphasizes dignity and individuality. In this role, the Health Care Administrator will support the President/Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer in strategic planning initiatives, Board and resident relationships, and community and public relations. The administrator will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and accreditation standards, supervise the operation of the contracted rehabilitation department, and participate in annual contract negotiations. The position also involves evaluating work processes, staffing levels, and training needs, while making recommendations for continuous quality improvement. The Health Care Administrator will be responsible for controlling budgets for both Health & Rehabilitation and Assisted Living, ensuring that departments are staffed with qualified employees, and that staff receives comprehensive training to meet regulatory and organizational expectations. The role promotes collaborative working relationships among all disciplines and departments to ensure positive interactions between residents and staff. Additionally, the administrator will chair the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee, participate in various meetings, and maintain positive interactions with residents, guests, and staff, while monitoring resident satisfaction and implementing improvements as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction to the overall operation of both Williamsburg Landing's Health & Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living.
  • Supports the President/Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer in strategic planning initiatives, Board and resident relationships, and community and public relations.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and CARF-CCAC accreditation standards related to the Health & Rehabilitation and Assisted Living departments.
  • Supervises the operation of the contracted rehabilitation department; participates in annual contract negotiation and oversees contract compliance in coordination with the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.
  • Ensures a high quality of resident care, emphasizing dignity and individuality.
  • Ensures compliance with safety standards and practices.
  • Evaluates work processes and methods; staffing levels, qualifications and training needs; and tools, equipment, and physical resource needs; submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensures that the departments are staffed with qualified and trained employees to meet the requirements of licensing and to maintain the level of service and care expected by residents and their families while balancing budgeted expectations.
  • Ensures that staff receives complete and comprehensive training to meet regulations, standards and organizational expectations that develops their professional abilities, and prepares them for growth opportunities.
  • Promotes collaborative working relationships among all disciplines and other departments to ensure positive interaction between residents and staff.
  • Assists with development of, and is responsible for controlling, budgets for both Health & Rehabilitation and Assisted Living including capital purchases.
  • Ensures the coordination of admissions, transfers and follow up/discharge care for residents meets regulatory standards and resident expectations.
  • Participates in the review, revision, and development of policies and procedures.
  • Supports the Director of Nursing and Assisted Living Manager in developing annual performance goals and departmental metrics; takes necessary action to ensure that goals are met.
  • Participates in staff, resident, and Board of Directors' committee meetings as assigned and completes required reports in a timely manner.
  • Makes frequent rounds and maintains knowledge of resident care needs.
  • Works closely with the Facilities Management Department to enhance utility and aesthetics of Assisted Living and Health & Rehabilitation and improve quality of service and staff productivity.
  • Complies with all Williamsburg Landing policies and procedures.
  • Maintains positive interaction with residents, guests, and other Williamsburg Landing employees; monitors the results of resident surveys and works with staff to improve the quality of service rendered.
  • Reviews staff feedback through We Care Connect and ensures that responses are followed up on in a timely manner; analyzes trends and puts action plans in place if warranted.
  • Oversees hiring process for managerial positions; ensures that necessary training is received; monitors and regularly evaluates job performance.
  • Holds staff meetings on a frequent and ongoing basis to discuss goals, objectives, expectations, and initiatives and to obtain feedback.
  • Chairs the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee and assists in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
  • Assumes on-call responsibility as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Five or more (5+) years of supervisory/administrative experience in long term care is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of geriatric nursing standards, principles, and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations related to nursing homes in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • General knowledge of Medicare regulations.
  • Demonstrated management, supervision and budgeting skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of resident care standards with the ability to evaluate resident care and the psychosocial dimension of gerontology.
  • Knowledge of senior living industry trends and the ability to interpret and apply these trends to current plans and projects at Williamsburg Landing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Ability to regularly exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
