About the position

The Health Care Program Coordinator Extra Help positions are temporary roles within the Behavioral Wellness Department of the County of Santa Barbara. These positions focus on providing outreach and education regarding behavioral health resources to underserved populations in the Santa Barbara, Lompoc, and Santa Maria areas. The coordinators will lead community training sessions, promote behavioral health education, and serve as a resource for community members and organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach and behavioral health education at local gatherings.
• Educate underserved populations on behavioral health and access to resources.
• Lead trainings on behavioral health education and awareness for community members and organizations.
• Gather and analyze information pertaining to project needs and develop data collection systems.
• Attend events to promote behavioral health education and resources.
• Conduct presentations in both Spanish and English on behavioral health topics.

Requirements

• Two years of experience providing professional-level program or administrative support, preferably in a health-care setting.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with general supervision and exercise sound judgment.
• Experience serving or teaching underrepresented communities.
• Experience facilitating conversations or trainings focused on mental health or substance use disorders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Nice-to-haves

• Fluency in Mixtec would be beneficial.
