About the position
The Health Care Technician (LVN) position involves providing health services related to the medical and physical needs of students under the supervision of a school nurse. The role includes performing first aid, maintaining health records, and assisting with specialized personal care services. This position is essential for ensuring a safe and sanitary school environment and supporting the health and well-being of students.
Responsibilities
- Assist Principals in maintaining a safe and sanitary school environment.
- Observe student symptoms and behavior, notifying appropriate personnel as necessary.
- Administer first aid including CPR to ill or injured students.
- Schedule and coordinate health screenings at the school location.
- Set up and maintain detailed individual health records for each student.
- Compile information and statistics for required state reports.
- Assist in rendering various forms of personal care such as toileting, dressing, and grooming of children.
- Monitor and administer prescribed medications in accordance with District policy.
- Perform clerical duties involved in the maintenance of health records and reports.
- Supervise students in the health office and assist with clerical personnel as required.
Requirements
- Experience equivalent to six months working in acute care coupled with some clerical background is preferred.
- Must be currently licensed as a Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse in California.
- Possession of a valid California driver's license.
- Possession of a valid first aid certificate and CPR certificate.
