About the position

The Health Center Associate I (HCA I) position at Planned Parenthood North Central States in Eden Prairie, MN, is a full-time role focused on providing administrative support and patient assistance within a healthcare setting. The associate will be responsible for welcoming patients, managing patient registrations, handling financial information, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role is essential in facilitating a positive patient experience and supporting the overall mission of providing comprehensive reproductive health care.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all patients and visitors and register them for health center services.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and reach out to patients as needed.
  • Perform computer data entry, including patient demographics, insurance information, and appointment scheduling.
  • Ensure all patients receive unbiased support and assistance, assessing patient questions and directing them to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain patient medical records and obtain patient consent for forms as necessary.
  • Handle requests for patient medical records appropriately.
  • Collect, assess, and verify patient financial information and determine insurance coverage.
  • Comply with all funding source requirements and assist patients in applying for funding.
  • Provide patients with resources for insurance navigation and financial counseling.
  • Inform patients of potential costs for services and collect patient fees.
  • Reconcile, prepare, and make bank deposits, complying with cash handling policies.
  • Prepare charge tickets for clinical staff coding and review charges for accuracy.
  • Ensure all patients are informed about donations and asked for a donation at checkout.
  • Encourage patients to complete patient experience surveys.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local laws regarding mandated reporting and HIPAA compliance.
  • Perform inventory functions and process clinical supplies received.
  • Provide factual, unbiased information to patients seeking abortion services.
  • Participate in onboarding new employees and supporting cross-training of established employees.
  • Collaborate with and provide coverage at health centers in assigned neighborhoods.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of customer service experience.
