About the position

The Health Center Associate I (HCA I) at Planned Parenthood North Central States is responsible for providing comprehensive support to patients and visitors at the Sioux City Health Center. This role involves patient registration, financial assessment, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations while delivering exceptional customer service. The HCA I plays a vital role in maintaining patient records, assisting with insurance navigation, and supporting the overall mission of providing reproductive health care with empathy and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all patients and visitors and register them for health center services.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and reach out to patients as needed.
  • Perform computer data entry, including patient demographics, insurance information, and appointment scheduling.
  • Ensure all patients receive unbiased support and assistance, assessing patient questions and directing them to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain patient medical records and obtain patient consent for forms as necessary.
  • Collect, assess, and verify patient financial information and determine insurance coverage.
  • Comply with all funding source requirements and assist patients in applying for funding.
  • Provide patients with resources for insurance navigation and financial counseling.
  • Inform patients of potential costs for services and collect patient fees.
  • Prepare charge tickets for clinical staff coding and review charges for accuracy.
  • Ensure all patients are provided with information regarding donations and are asked for a donation at checkout.
  • Ensure all patients complete patient experience surveys.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local laws regarding mandated reporting and HIPAA compliance.
  • Perform inventory functions and process clinical supplies that are received.
  • Provide factual, unbiased information to patients seeking abortion services.
  • Participate in the onboarding of new employees and support cross-training of established employees.
  • Collaborate with and provide coverage as needed at health centers in assigned neighborhoods.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • One to two years of customer service experience
