The Health Disparities Data Analyst at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center plays a crucial role in advancing and supporting research initiatives focused on health disparities, Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), and health equity. This position is integral to the Office of Research Support within the Graduate School of Medicine and is responsible for enhancing research activities related to health disparities across the institution. The analyst will collaborate closely with the Director of Research, study investigators, and senior staff to ensure the successful development, implementation, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of research findings. In this role, the analyst will utilize their expertise in health disparities and SDoH research to boost the output of data and related research initiatives. They will engage with various stakeholders within the institution to identify research gaps and opportunities, fostering collaborative research initiatives. The analyst will coordinate with the GSM Office of Biostatistics Director and investigators to develop databases for health disparities and SDoH research during the data analysis phase. Additionally, they will work to grow research activities in rural health and health disparities through collaboration across the University and the state. The analyst will also be responsible for identifying potential funding sources for health disparities and SDoH-driven research, writing sections for IRB protocols, and coordinating health disparities research teams throughout the grant development and execution process. They will review grants and IRB protocols focused on health disparities and work with investigators to strengthen their submissions. Furthermore, the analyst will assist faculty, residents, and fellows in coordinating database-driven projects, prepare scientific abstracts and papers for publication, and present research findings at local and national meetings. Mentoring residents, fellows, and colleagues in health disparity research methods is also a key responsibility of this position.
