About the position

The Health Educator I, Registered Dietitian (Per-Diem) role involves assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating health education programs and services. This position focuses on providing direct health education to members and the public, coordinating health education services, and developing culturally appropriate educational materials. The role requires a Registered Dietitian to perform Medical Nutrition Therapy and involves collaboration with healthcare professionals to enhance community health education efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts needs assessments and establishes priorities for health education programs.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates basic health education programs, protocols, and standards.
  • Coordinates a wide range of health education services, including referral systems and quality monitoring.
  • Provides direct group or one-on-one health education services to members and the public.
  • Reviews and develops high-quality health education materials.
  • Consults with physicians and staff regarding health education services.
  • Coordinates health information projects such as newsletters and community health events.
  • Specializes in specific areas of health education as required.
  • Prepares reports, grants, proposals, and documentation as assigned.
  • Participates in establishing department strategic goals and priorities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in providing and coordinating health education services (usually 1 year).
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) as confirmed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or a pre-RD who has completed the Supervised Practice Program (SPP) for RDs.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in health education required.
  • Previous experience in curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of behavior change, adult learning theory, and group process theory.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of PC applications required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years of recent teaching/program planning experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Previous individual, small group, and large group/classroom training/teaching experience.
