About the position

The Health Educator position is a temporary role focused on providing health education to patients, clients, and community members. The role involves conducting training sessions, maintaining health education resources, and supporting the development of health education centers at various sites. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse groups effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide health education to patients, clients, and community members as directed by the Program Manager.
• Aid in the development of a health education center at AltaMed sites.
• Participate in staff meetings to provide health education technical assistance and guidance organization-wide as requested.
• Review health education materials for content and cultural appropriateness.
• Identify and research additional educational resources to support healthcare and health education messages.
• Participate in community outreach, education health fairs, etc.
• Assist in the development of the health education work plan.
• Serve as a facilitator in resolving patient concerns.
• Implement health education objectives and strategies within the clinic and throughout the community.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Health Science with an emphasis in Community Health Education or a related field.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience or internship in the healthcare field or community outreach.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to speak in front of groups during presentations.
• Self-motivated and creative.
• Computer literacy is absolutely necessary.
