About the position

The Health Equity Research Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting research studies at the Regenstrief Center for Health Equity Research within Eskenazi Health. This position involves a variety of activities that are essential for the successful execution of research projects aimed at improving health equity in the community. The assistant will engage in original data collection through interviews and surveys, targeting a diverse range of participants including patients, families, healthcare providers, community leaders, health equity advocates, and residents. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the research conducted is reflective of the community's needs and perspectives. In addition to data collection, the Health Equity Research Assistant is responsible for managing data entry into relevant repositories, ensuring that all data is handled securely and in compliance with privacy regulations. The assistant will also be expected to maintain proficiency in the necessary software and hardware used for data management. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as the assistant will regularly interact with clinical and research teams to coordinate activities and address any challenges that arise during the research process. The position requires a strong commitment to customer service, demonstrating sensitivity and respect towards diverse populations. The assistant will be expected to model the values of Eskenazi Health, responding promptly to the needs of patients, families, and community partners. This role not only contributes to the research efforts of the Regenstrief Center but also serves as a vital link between Eskenazi Health and the community, fostering collaboration and engagement with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and facilitate activities in support of research studies associated with the Regenstrief Center for Health Equity Research.
  • Conduct original data collection through interviews and surveys of patients, families, healthcare providers, community leaders, and residents.
  • Deliver courteous and sensitive customer service to patients, families, and colleagues, modeling Eskenazi Health PRIDE values.
  • Independently manage data entry into data repositories related to specific studies, ensuring data security and privacy.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of patients and their families, remaining composed in uncomfortable situations.
  • Facilitate data collection for projects, including compliance, recruitment, referral, enrollment, and data entry.
  • Identify problems with recruitment and enrollment processes and implement corrective steps to improve efficiency.
  • Serve as a liaison between Eskenazi Health and community partners and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associate's Degree or relevant prior experience also considered.
  • Completion of CITI Human Subjects Research (HSR) course and maintenance of certification throughout employment.
  • Valid Indiana state driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian-Creole language is preferred; fluency in English is also preferred.
