About the position

The Health Equity Research Assistant performs and/or facilitates activities in support of research studies associated with the Regenstrief Center for Health Equity Research at Eskenazi Health. Activities will vary from study to study but broadly include original data collection through interviews and surveys of patients, families, health care providers, community leaders, health equity advocates, and community residents. This role is crucial in ensuring that the research conducted is comprehensive and inclusive, reflecting the diverse populations served by Eskenazi Health. The assistant will be responsible for managing data entry into data repositories related to specific studies, ensuring data security and privacy, and maintaining competence in the use of relevant program hardware and software applications. In addition to data management, the Health Equity Research Assistant will deliver courteous, sincere, and sensitive customer service to patients, families, and colleagues, consistently modeling Eskenazi Health's PRIDE values. The role requires effective communication with a wide range of patients and their families, as well as regular interaction with members of the clinical and research teams to assure coordination of activities. The assistant will also facilitate data collection for projects championed by the Regenstrief Center, including compliance, recruitment, referral, enrollment, and data entry. This position serves as an essential liaison between Eskenazi Health and community partners, ensuring that research activities are executed timely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates data collection for research projects at the Regenstrief Center for Health Equity Research.
  • Manages data entry into data repositories related to specific studies.
  • Delivers courteous and sensitive customer service to patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Communicates effectively with a wide range of patients and their families.
  • Interacts regularly with clinical and research teams to assure coordination of activities.
  • Identifies problems with recruitment, referral, and enrollment processes and implements corrective steps.
  • Serves as a liaison between Eskenazi Health and community partners.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish and/or Haitian-Creole language.
  • Complete CITI Human Subjects Research (HSR) course and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Valid Indiana state driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluent in English language preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but Associate's Degree or relevant prior experience also considered.
