About the position

The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist plays a crucial role in organizing and maintaining health information in both paper and electronic formats. This position is essential for ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of patient data, which includes medical histories, test results, and treatment information. HIM Specialists work closely with healthcare professionals to verify data accuracy and are responsible for keeping medical records up to date while adhering to best practices for security and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage health information data.
  • Maintain the medical record and treatment outcomes.
  • Order medical supplies according to the department's needs.
  • Rotate weekends, holidays, shifts, and center locations as needed.
  • Participate in staff and department meetings.
  • Share acquired knowledge and learning with colleagues.
  • Consistently report for duty on time.
  • Keep patient information private and limit personal conversations in the patient's presence.
  • Collaborate with personnel from other departments.
  • Check medical records and follow up on obtaining missing results prior to patient appointments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent education.
  • 1+ years of experience in customer service.
  • 1+ years of experience in the medical field.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Customer service skills and training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant or any other job-related vocational coursework preferred.
