Responsibilities

  • Provide medical record support in an academic administrative setting.
  • Utilize technical and business vocabulary and detailed knowledge of University computer systems.
  • Create referral shell requests via MiChart for new patient outpatient consult requests.
  • Image incoming outside medical records in MiChart and upload outside radiology CDs into Life Image system.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding sensitive or confidential matters.
  • Obtain and track medical records for clinic appointments.
  • Provide office and backup support service as well as office coverage.
  • Use effective communication skills and relate positively with patients, faculty, staff, and others.
  • Maintain responsibility for MiChart grids and manage complex billing and referral work queues.
  • Serve as a lead for the clinic to provide room allocation for urgent and routine add-on clinics.
  • Process provider time off requests and manage clinical databases if applicable.
  • Prepare and distribute patient education materials and perform general office functions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • A minimum of three to four years' clerical experience necessary.
  • Knowledge of PCs and desktop software.
  • Proficient user in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic experience with e-mail systems and calendaring systems.
  • Proficient in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Basic medical terminology competency is necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MiChart reporting functions.
  • Ability to run MiChart reports and analyze as needed.
  • Experience in mentoring Patient Services Assistants and Associates.
