About the position

The Health Information Systems Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the Health Information Systems Department. This role ensures the accuracy and completeness of documentation, provides training to medical staff, and ensures adherence to established policies and procedures. The manager supervises staff, monitors electronic health records (EHR) for compliance, and oversees the functionality of the EHR software system, ensuring efficient operations and training for users.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring training compliance.
  • Monitor daily EHRs executed by field staff for accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ensure proper configuration and functionality of the EHR software system.
  • Provide training for user interface and administrative tasks in the EHR software system.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve EHR software issues, reporting unresolved issues to the software developer.
  • Monitor departmental processes for compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Create, run, analyze, interpret, and summarize data mining reports for quality assurance and improvement.
  • Oversee Electronic Health Records Management and enforce medical record policies.
  • Ensure ambulance service compliance with DSHS mandated documentation reporting.
  • Act as a liaison between community tissue banks and organ donation systems.
  • Interact with the Emergency Physicians Advisory Board to manage narcotic documentation procedures.
  • Provide local trauma facilities with patient data for maintaining trauma designation status.
  • Maintain protected health information disclosure logs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in emergency medical services management or a related business degree.
  • Four years of responsible experience in health information management or records management.
  • At least two years of experience in education.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project management in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA laws and regulations pertaining to EMS.
  • Familiarity with mobile technologies and computer networking systems.

  • Full-time position with a competitive salary range of $85,611 - $111,295 per year.
