About the position

The Health Information Technician role at Medica Talent Group involves supporting the maintenance and organization of patient medical records within a managed care organization. This temporary position focuses on ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards while providing excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately index health information using identity verification protocols.
• Scan, index, and validate patient medical records.
• Develop and maintain health record systems for data storage and analysis.
• File documents into electronic health record (EHR) systems daily.
• Ensure medical records are available for physician review and signature.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, staff, and external entities.
• Specialize in clerical functions, such as record requests, scanning, or quality auditing.
• Monitor workflow and assign tasks as needed.
• Manage PHI and ROI processes, escalating issues as necessary.
• Process health information and update EHR for HEDIS measures.
• Address daily electronic lab interface failures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
• Minimum of three years of experience in medical records processing, in a customer-facing role
• At least one year of experience navigating multiple healthcare record systems
• EPIC experience highly preferred
• Intermediate computer skills required
• Intermediate medical terminology knowledge
