About the position

InGenesis is seeking a Medical Office Billing Clerk to work with our client in San Antonio, TX. This full-time position involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the billing process in a medical office setting. The primary duty of the Medical Office Billing Clerk is to obtain primary insurance data necessary for preparing statements to patients' insurance carriers. This role may also involve preparing notices to patients regarding the amounts expected from their insurance and the amounts they are expected to pay out of pocket. The Medical Office Billing Clerk will review claims that have been adjudicated by Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial carriers to ensure appropriate billing practices are followed. This includes addressing denied claims and claims that are pending, as well as extracting necessary information to compose individualized appeal letters. The clerk will need to identify payor-specific patterns or trends and remain current with all payor guidelines to ensure compliance and efficiency in the billing process. Additionally, the role requires the utilization of various collection processes, such as appeals or collection notices, to manage outstanding accounts effectively. The clerk will also perform all other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the medical office's billing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review claims that have been adjudicated by Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial carriers for appropriate billing.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years of related experience to include a clinical setting is required.
  • Medical/Dental coding experience is preferred.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate work within schedule constraints.
  • Ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, to provide excellent customer service.
