About the position

The Health Program Coordinator I at Health Research, Inc. is responsible for overseeing programmatic and contractual aspects of the Cancer Services Program (CSP), which aims to provide cancer screening and treatment services to underserved populations in New York. This role involves direct communication with contractors, supervision of staff, and the development of performance improvement guidelines to enhance program delivery. The coordinator will also monitor program performance, provide training, and assist in identifying community partners to support CSP goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee programmatic and contractual aspects of statewide Cancer Services Program contractors.
  • Serve as the main point of contact with assigned contractors.
  • Supervise senior contract coordinator staff.
  • Develop performance improvement guidelines for contractors.
  • Identify training needs and provide technical assistance to contractors.
  • Contribute to the development and negotiation of contract workplans and budgets.
  • Lead monthly progress meetings and monitor program performance measures.
  • Review contractor-developed media for compliance with guidelines.
  • Assist contractors in identifying service gaps and community partners.
  • Monitor, review, and approve vouchers and expenses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in public health or related fields; OR an Associate's degree and five years of experience; OR seven years of experience in a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in staff supervision or program management.
  • Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public health or health-related settings.
  • Experience providing programmatic guidance and technical assistance.
  • Experience with contract management and budget approval.
  • Ability to interpret data and produce written reports.
  • Knowledge of program evaluation and continuous quality improvement (CQI).
  • Experience in developing and conducting presentations and training, including distance learning platforms.
