About the position

The Health Program Manager I position is responsible for providing administrative direction for health-related programs, particularly in maternal, child, and family health, nutrition, and disease control. This role involves supervising the Statewide Epidemiology and Rural Disease Investigation units, collaborating with the State Epidemiologist to develop statewide disease protocols, and managing day-to-day operations. The incumbent will also assist local health departments with epidemiological activities and oversee data collection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Statewide Epidemiology and Rural Disease Investigation units.
  • Provide high-level oversight in collaboration with the State Epidemiologist.
  • Develop statewide disease protocols for various communicable diseases.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Epidemiology units.
  • Assist local health authorities with epidemiological investigations.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Nevada epidemiologic response to the CDC.
  • Develop a Syndromic Surveillance program statewide.
  • Oversee and provide feedback on data collection systems within the Office of State Epidemiology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, human services, social science, behavioral science, or a related field.
  • Three years of health-related professional experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in providing or coordinating health care services, budget monitoring, and interpreting health care regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with EpiTrax and RedCap data management systems.
  • Knowledge of epidemiological practices and protocols.
