About the position

The Health Promotion Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the health needs of newly-arrived refugees in Tucson, ensuring they receive culturally appropriate medical services. This role involves advocating for healthcare access, developing health education strategies, and collaborating with local health departments and resettlement agencies to promote health literacy among refugee populations. The position may involve stress and requires a high degree of performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate health needs of newly-arrived refugees.
  • Develop strategies for delivering health education to refugees.
  • Conduct individual assessments and community surveys to identify health topics.
  • Provide navigation services for at-risk refugees to access healthcare systems.
  • Organize and facilitate wellness groups and community-based activities.
  • Identify and engage mental health providers skilled in trauma-informed care.
  • Develop and implement training curriculum for mental health providers.
  • Establish linkages between mental health providers and refugee-serving organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in public health, social work, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in public health, mental health, or refugee services.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and health needs of refugee populations.
  • Experience in program development and training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Bilingual or multilingual verbal and written skills.
  • Additional years of directly-related experience.
