About the position

The Health Resource Specialist-Administrative plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Start program by ensuring that all enrolled children's health requirements are met according to Federal and State Standards and Regulations. This position involves administrative tasks related to health services, including scheduling, monitoring, and resource provision for the Health Content Team and Children's Services. The specialist will work closely with the Health Development Manager and various community partners to facilitate health screenings and maintain compliance with health mandates.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in scheduling, monitoring, and administrative tasks of Health Services.
  • Approve purchases of medical, health, and environmental equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinate with providers to schedule health screenings at sites.
  • Oversee tracking and monitoring of CPR/FA training and certification.
  • Support the implementation of the Health Services Advisory Committee.
  • Review health history for pregnant women and infants/toddlers in the program.
  • Contact medical and dental providers to verify screening paperwork.
  • Complete OAE hearing screens and rescreens for classrooms.
  • Utilize ChildPlus to monitor health-related screening data and follow up for accuracy.
  • Develop relationships with community partners to ensure resources for families.
  • Collaborate with staff and parents to schedule medical or dental examinations.
  • Attend training and conferences to maintain professional licensure.
  • Participate in scheduled center-based screenings.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in early childhood, health, wellness, medical/nursing, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Head Start, pediatric, or medical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Alabama EPSDT requirements and Medicare guidelines preferred.
  • Proficient with Excel and experience in formulating and evaluating reports/spreadsheets.
  • Experience working with programs for young children and their families.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults from low socio-economic backgrounds.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $1408.31 - $2000 biweekly.
  • 230 working days per year.
