About the position

The Health and Safety Manager at Air Liquide is responsible for fostering a proactive safety culture within the organization, particularly in relation to ALATUS Biogas operations and GM&TA management. This role focuses on preventing work-related accidents and injuries, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, and managing health and safety processes and programs. The position involves developing safety training materials, participating in accident investigations, and providing support for emergency planning and preparedness.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to safety concerns and safety alerts in a timely manner.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations to establish root causes in myRCA and corrective actions in Intelex.
  • In partnership with Operations, ensure appropriate corrective action is taken when safety hazards are identified.
  • Perform day to day safety risk assessment & mitigation through Safety Audits, Safe Work Permits (SWP), Pre-Job Planning (PJP), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
  • Manage emergency response plans for the facility, including drills to assess effectiveness.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings.
  • Conduct safety training and onboarding for new hires.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA General Industry standards and Air Liquide safety policies as outlined in IMS.
  • Support Health & Safety programs for manufacturing sites.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites on a regular basis.
  • Provide the management team with Health & Safety metrics and KPIs.
  • Maintain Health & Safety procedures in Intelex by reviewing and updating during their review cycle.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the HSE Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial safety/hygiene, occupational health, or related field of study.
  • 5+ years experience with increasing responsibilities for Health & Safety management.
  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience writing technical policies, procedures, and reports.
  • Knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910).
  • Experience with PSM/RMP.
  • Demonstrates strong process and operational safety behavior at all times.
  • Experience driving and managing change.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills including virtual meetings, data sheets, documents, and presentations.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Previous experience with multi-site responsibility.
  • Ability to travel overnight to domestic locations (up to 30%) to WI, MI, IL, PA, GA, LA, MS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) field operations.
  • Certification in ASP, CSP, CIH or CHMM.
