About the position

The Health Sciences and Wellness Programs Recruiter and Admissions Specialist at the College of The Albemarle plays a crucial role in coordinating and implementing recruitment and marketing strategies for health sciences programs. This part-time position involves assisting with the admissions process, creating promotional materials, and engaging with diverse communities to attract students to the Health Sciences and Wellness Programs (HSWP).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing the HSWP admission process including identification, tracking, and ranking of qualified applicants for admission for each Health Science program.
  • Create and coordinate marketing and promotional activities and materials related to all health sciences programs.
  • Provide assistance and input into the implementation of plans for diversity and inclusion strategies across HSWP programming.
  • Develop engaging recruitment materials and props specific to HSWP programs.
  • Visit multiple high schools, middle schools, health occupation CTE classes, and community events to represent the HSWP programs and recruit students and adults.
  • Communicate with high schools and community agencies to inform them of HSWP programs and admission processes.
  • Coordinate with Admission and Advisement Director for HSWP/Public safety days for high school and middle school students, COA students, and the public.
  • Communicate with and coordinate community partners for information and activities at recruitment events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (or higher) in a health, advising, or communications related degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Two calendar years of prior full-time employment or equivalent in a health science-related, college advising, marketing/promotion or other applicable field.
  • Knowledge of the community college system and a commitment to its mission.
  • Knowledge of student engagement, advising principles, and coaching.
  • Ability to motivate adult students and communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective communication skills with faculty, staff, administrators, and employers.
  • Working knowledge of community organizations including health care agencies and learning institutions.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Excellent oral, written, computer and interpersonal communication skills.
