About the position

The Health Sensing team at Apple is dedicated to designing, developing, and launching next-generation sensor technologies that enhance user experience, particularly in the critical area of health. In this position, you will be responsible for conducting system and board-level design for projects assigned to the team, which will encompass the entire lifecycle of new products—from initial design and functional specifications of new hardware features to architecture design and validation of these features. You will review and comment on schematics and system designs, develop analysis tools for hardware performance, and perform sophisticated system-level tests. Additionally, you will resolve issues in existing products and conduct unit and integration testing. Your role will also involve driving the development of component and module vendors, creating tester and evaluation plans to ensure scalable solutions that support Apple's mass production with high quality. Collaboration with hardware, system, operations, and test engineers will be essential, as will writing design and architecture documents.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting system and board level design for projects spanning the lifecycle of new products.
  • Reviewing and commenting on schematics and system reviews.
  • Developing analysis tools for hardware performance and performing sophisticated system level tests.
  • Resolving issues in existing products and performing unit testing and integration testing.
  • Driving the development of component/module vendors and tester/evaluation plan bring-up.
  • Collaborating with hardware, system, operations, and test engineers.
  • Writing design and architecture documents.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical or system hardware engineering.
  • Strong electrical engineering background in analog, mixed signal, and failure analysis with mass production experience.
  • Proficiency in SPICE, Matlab, Python, LabView, or similar scripting and simulation tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven partnership and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of system and firmware development is a huge plus.
  • Experience in optical module development and quality management is a plus.
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers and vendors is a plus.
