About the position

The Human Interface Devices (HID) Health Sensor Software team at Apple is focused on developing innovative features for Apple products that enhance user health while ensuring data privacy and security. This role involves designing and maintaining software stacks for health products and sensing technologies, with a strong emphasis on user experience and collaboration with medical researchers and engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Architecting and building the software stack to implement new features in the Health space
  • Participating in architecture and code reviews
  • Building internal tools as needed to help ship high quality software
  • Performance tuning to deliver the best experience to users

Requirements

  • Solid programming skills in at least one of the following programming languages: C, C++, Objective-C, Swift, Go, Rust
  • Object oriented programming and design skills
  • Experience developing reusable public or private APIs
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms

Nice-to-haves

  • Self-directed, analytical, and works well in a team environment
  • Comfortable working at both higher and lower levels of software
  • Have built projects using Objective-C or Swift and experience with iOS, macOS, and/or tvOS SDKs
  • Experience building performant software for embedded systems
  • Experience working with sensor data (e.g. accelerometer, heart rate sensor) is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with IOKit, Objective-C and other iOS/OS X frameworks is a plus
  • Familiarity with debugging and profiling code in both kernel and user space
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
