About the position

The position involves processing budget, medical, and administrative documents to support the Health Services Department within a correctional institution. The role requires maintaining records, liaising with community hospitals, and ensuring the security of the institution while preparing individuals for successful reentry into society. The incumbent will also assist with complex medical material procurement and coordinate medical care for inmates.

Responsibilities

  • Process budget, medical, and other administrative documents.
  • Update, maintain, research, inventory, and file records.
  • Prioritize assigned tasks and solicit feedback.
  • Prepare and consolidate reports for two cost centers and monthly accruals.
  • Assist with technical and analytical tasks involving complex medical material procurement.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Financial Management Department and the Health Services Department.
  • Coordinate with community hospitals and contract consultants regarding billing and scheduling of patient appointments and procedures.
  • Obtain medical information and care for inmates, including scheduling and arranging transportation for medical transfers.
  • Maintain security of the institution as part of correctional responsibilities.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service.
  • Experience in maintaining medical and financial records.
  • Experience in scheduling health care appointments.
  • Experience in preparing and processing medical and financial forms and documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate education related to the work of the position may be credited.
  • Experience in dealing with community hospitals and contract consultants.
