We are hiring a researcher to join our vibrant and growing Health division. The successful candidate will join our group of over 800 health policy professionals in the Unit, including staff with degrees in data analytics, public health, public policy, economics, behavioral or social sciences, and other relevant disciplines. Our health researchers support project teams in the planning and execution of research projects for clients such as: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Health Resources & Services Administration, the Office of Minority Health, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, leading health foundations, and numerous state and local agencies and commercial clients. Researchers will conduct studies and support program improvement in the areas of health care delivery and payment reforms, public health insurance programs (Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE), health care access and quality, public health data and data systems, underserved and disadvantaged populations, structural and social determinants of health, health equity, and related topics.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior staff to design rigorous methods for evaluating programs and policies, conduct analyses, draft reports, present findings to policy and professional audiences, and publish in professional journals.
  • Conduct research that applies impartial data collection, analysis, and reporting using quantitative and/or qualitative techniques and equitable evaluation principles.
  • Help develop proposals for new research projects.
  • Represent the company's expertise through various mechanisms, such as publications, conferences, technical communications, and testimony.
  • Contribute to the growth, expertise, and institutional knowledge of other research staff.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Master's or equivalent experience in health services research, public health, public policy, economics, epidemiology, demography, social work, sociology, data science or a related field.
  • Strong foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and a broad understanding of health care and health policy issues in the United States.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to translate research findings for a policy audience.
  • Strong interest in working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that emphasizes quality, rigor, critical thinking, objectivity, diversity and inclusion, equity, and professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide project leadership and coordinate the work of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail; flexibility to lead and manage multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadlines.
