About the position

The Chief of Operations Officer (COO) at the Fort Yuma Service Unit is responsible for providing leadership and management to ensure effective operational controls, administrative procedures, and financial strength within the health center. This role involves participating in executive-level management functions and developing policies for the healthcare delivery system, while also maintaining relationships with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management for the health center's operations.
• Participate in executive-level team management functions, including meetings with governing boards and tribal councils.
• Develop and implement long and short-term policies for the healthcare delivery system.
• Forecast funds needed for staffing and resources, monitor expenditures, and recommend adjustments.
• Facilitate personnel management policies for the healthcare system.
• Establish and maintain effective working relations with governmental agencies and community stakeholders.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must pass a pre-employment examination and background investigation.
• Must have a degree in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
• Management ability to delegate authority and oversee programs.
• Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems and regulatory standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a healthcare facility or higher organizational echelon with advisory authority.
• Knowledge of budget, personnel, and procurement systems.
