About the position

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Optum is responsible for leading the Market Performance Partnership (MPP) within the Allina Health information technology sector. This role focuses on operational management, transformation, and collaboration with various leaders to execute organizational strategies. The CIO will drive efficiency, innovation, and consistency across IT operations, leveraging technology to enhance healthcare affordability and operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Drive high-quality execution and operational excellence that support organization growth and optimization strategies specific to MPP partnerships
  • Drive constant innovation and continuous improvement while pushing the organization to deliver capabilities that enable operational efficiencies
  • Accountable for driving financial management, remediation and cost mitigation efforts across the function while working in a matrixed environment
  • Successfully manage and develop leaders who are responsible for managing large complex functions and clients
  • Implement the components required to meet the MSA terms for MPP partnerships such as: Service Level design and reporting; Governance processes; Change Control processes; all Fees and pricing, etc.
  • Understand the strategic marketplace and help create competitive value propositions for strategic clients
  • Build relationships with key client executives to understand and deliver on their business challenges
  • Collaborate with Client Executives to understand client needs and deliver excellent customer service
  • Influence leaders across various functions to deliver effective outcomes, programs, and service offerings
  • Create a highly engaged workforce and support ongoing improvement of customer satisfaction and growth
  • Ensure leadership team has a market focus to drive improvement in customer satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop strategies that simplify and improve customer experience
  • Proactively initiate and drive change in processes, tools, and capabilities to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Communicate and drive strategic and operational plans to achieve required operational results

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience within a healthcare delivery system interfacing with enterprise level executives
  • 10+ years of experience serving in a leadership role in the Information Technology profession
  • 3+ years serving in a senior leadership role within a health system
  • Demonstrated success meeting budgets and timelines for a division or operating unit for a healthcare or technology business
  • Executive management experience in the healthcare industry
  • Proven analytical skills with ability to drive transformational, customer focused change
  • Direct experience managing client facing/growth initiatives within highly matrixed organizations
  • Track record of making strategic, operational and administrative decisions in response to emerging conditions
  • Demonstrated understanding of corporate financial disciplines - budgeting, reporting and P&L
  • Exercises sound judgment and discretion in decision making
  • Possess organizational proficiencies to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to present to C-Suite and Board of Directors audiences
  • Problem solving skills with an ability to incorporate process improvement tools
  • Consultative approach to building consensus
  • Bachelor's degree with a Master's or MBA preferred
