About the position

The Health System Specialist (Ambulatory Care Operations Coordinator) serves as a key member of the VA Augusta Healthcare System, focusing on analytics, project management, and operational improvement within the healthcare delivery system. This role involves data analysis, reporting, and coordination to enhance organizational performance and patient care services. The incumbent will work closely with leadership to develop metrics, manage multiple projects, and ensure effective integration of services to meet the needs of veterans.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data retrieval and report building to manage critical aspects of field operations.
  • Identify information needed for operational management and develop analytical studies.
  • Extract data from VA's corporate data systems and develop database applications for information collection.
  • Analyze SAIL data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of performance metrics for evaluating health services.
  • Manage multiple projects and provide updates to senior executives on project status.
  • Lead multidisciplinary groups to ensure effective project integration and management.
  • Demonstrate sound healthcare and administrative judgment in decision-making.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must possess a degree in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields, or have relevant experience in healthcare management.
  • For GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level.
  • For GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare delivery systems and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of budget, personnel, and procurement processes in a healthcare setting.
