About the position

The Health Systems Specialist - Compliance and Business Integrity Officer (CBIO) plays a crucial role in supporting the Veterans Health Administration's mission by developing and maintaining a Compliance and Business Integrity (CBI) program. This position involves ensuring adherence to policies and procedures within a complex healthcare system, which includes multiple contracts and academic affiliations. The CBIO is responsible for assessing compliance risks, drafting policies, conducting investigations, and implementing corrective actions to enhance operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Apply analytic principles, theories, and techniques to healthcare management and operational systems.
  • Assess existing policies and procedures, identifying and documenting compliance risks.
  • Initiate, develop, and draft written Medical Center policies and procedures to ensure local compliance issues are addressed.
  • Gather information, identify, and analyze concerns of potential non-compliance with VA and VHA directives.
  • Conduct and coordinate CBI investigations on reported incidents of non-compliance with VHA administrative policies and directives.
  • Develop appropriate monitoring and auditing processes and corrective action plans to improve business practices.
  • Participate in external reviews of the organization surveys as directed by Medical Center executive leadership.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements for GS-13 position.
  • Undergraduate and graduate education in Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, or related fields with coursework in healthcare administration.
  • Specialized experience in healthcare management or supervisory roles.
