About the position

The Assistant Medical Center Director at the Department of Veterans Affairs plays a crucial role in overseeing multiple administrative and allied health services within the Veterans Health Administration. This position is responsible for facility operations, engaging in executive discussions, and resolving complex healthcare administration issues. The role requires a strong focus on financial management, resource allocation, and maintaining community partnerships to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, supervises, and directs various administrative and health-related services.
  • Participates in top-level executive discussions and policy-making for administrative functions.
  • Resolves complex healthcare administration issues through independent analysis and action.
  • Develops plans and programs for clinic and health plan management.
  • Performs financial management and resource decision-making analysis.
  • Establishes priorities for healthcare operations and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Serves as fiscal advisor to the Medical Center Director for budget submissions.
  • Manages human capital and provides timely decisions on union complaints and grievances.
  • Represents the healthcare system in community partnerships and relationships with stakeholders.
  • Facilitates communication between clinical providers and administrators to meet medical center goals.
  • Leads implementation of various initiatives including Strategic Planning and High Reliability Organization.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 level in the Federal Service.
  • Experience in healthcare management or supervisory roles in an operating healthcare facility.
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, regulations, and standards.
  • Management ability to delegate authority and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial management and organizational performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with community health partnerships and public relations.
