About the position

The Health Systems Resilience and Sustainability Advisor will support the USAID Bureau for Global Health, focusing on health systems strengthening (HSS) with an emphasis on resilience, climate, and sustainability. This role involves providing technical assistance, developing strategies, and ensuring the integration of climate and health considerations into HSS programming. The advisor will collaborate with various teams to enhance health systems' capacity and sustainability, ultimately contributing to effective health outcomes globally.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource for innovative approaches to climate resilience within HSS programs.
  • Gather technical resources and information on health system topics related to climate change and health resilience.
  • Provide recommendations to track and capture lessons learned from health system strengthening programming.
  • Support USAID missions in the design, assessment, and evaluation of HSS programs, especially those related to climate and health.
  • Develop technical guidance on the intersection of HSS, resilience, and climate and health.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, liaising with technical working groups on health system strengthening interventions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to USAID Missions and country partners on health systems strategy and implementation.
  • Support integration of health system strengthening in field programs and provide advice on program designs and evaluations.
  • Coordinate centrally managed grants and contracts for global health system strengthening programs.
  • Manage communications and correspondence with implementing partners and USAID's global Missions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with 8 years, Associate's degree with 10 years, or High School diploma with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in the USAID operating environment, including programming and procedures.
  • Demonstrated professional judgment to interpret strategy and analyze program implementation.
  • Experience in providing technical guidance in health system strengthening and climate and health.
  • Knowledge of health system strengthening in low-resource settings, particularly regarding climate change.
