About the position

The Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical) position is a full performance role responsible for the day-to-day operations of telehealth services at the assigned location and between remote sites of care. The incumbent prepares the clinical environment, facilitates telehealth encounters, manages clinical data, and ensures patient safety and privacy while providing education and support to Veterans and staff. This role requires minimal supervision and involves both technical and administrative responsibilities related to telehealth technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the clinical environment and medical equipment for telehealth services.
  • Serve as a tele presenter during clinical video telehealth encounters.
  • Capture images and collect data for store and forward telehealth clinical encounters.
  • Ensure patient care is delivered safely by following inventory management and cleaning protocols.
  • Complete standardized clinical questionnaires and templates as per guidelines.
  • Protect patient privacy by complying with information security regulations.
  • Schedule telehealth appointments using an electronic resource-based system.
  • Screen patients for telehealth modality and refer those who do not meet criteria.
  • Monitor and maintain schedules for rooms, patients, and technologies to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide patient education using approved materials and support in completing satisfaction surveys.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff at local and remote sites.
  • Configure, install, troubleshoot, and maintain telehealth technology and equipment.
  • Provide education and training on telehealth technologies to Veterans and staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of telehealth-related technologies and computer systems.
  • Arrange and complete test video calls with Veterans to prepare for clinical encounters.
  • Ensure resources are maintained for local and remote telehealth providers.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required to apply for this job.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare field or relevant education is required.
  • Ability to perform tasks related to telehealth technologies and patient care is essential.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and background investigation.

  • Experience in a specialty clinic or medical administrative roles is preferred.
