About the position

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency assessment and medical care to inmate patients.
• Act as the first responder at the scene of sudden illness or emergency situations.
• Consult with medical providers to determine transportation methods to local hospitals.
• Prioritize treatments for patients with multiple medical issues.
• Employ established medical emergency procedures and techniques, including emergency triage.
• Maintain the security of the correctional institution as a primary responsibility.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree directly related to the work of the position, or one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service.
• Current, active, and unrestricted certification as a National Registry Paramedic (NRP) or a current, active state Paramedic license in the state of application.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in obtaining patient vital signs and performing venipuncture.
• Experience using medical emergency equipment such as EKGs and defibrillators.
• Knowledge of medication administration, doses, routes, and side effects.
