About the position

The Health Unit Clerk-Patient Care Assistant position at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital is a full-time role that combines responsibilities of both a health unit clerk and a patient care assistant. The position is focused on providing direct and non-direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring a supportive and comforting environment for patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and non-direct patient care according to scope of practice.
• Support the nursing staff by performing clerical duties and assisting with patient care tasks.
• Act as a versatile member of the care team, contributing to patient wellness.
• Assist with assigned preceptor duties as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• 1 year of nursing assistant or Patient Care Assistant experience; or 6 months of experience with certification as a CNA or PCT.
• Certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the state of practice is required with 6 months experience.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 30 days upon hire.
