About the position
The Health Unit Coordinator I (HUC I) at Ben Taub Hospital is responsible for the daily clerical operations and coordination of activities on a nursing unit. This role involves close collaboration with the charge nurse and nurse manager to ensure that patient needs are met effectively. The HUC I serves as the central point for unit communication and activity, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards while managing unit supplies and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily clerical operations on the nursing unit.
- Support unit operations in collaboration with the charge nurse/nurse manager.
- Monitor compliance with environmental and process safety standards.
- Maintain unit supplies and equipment.
- Facilitate communication and coordination of unit activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved program.
- Competency in medical terminology and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Three years of work experience or related training preferred.
- College-level courses in a relevant field.
