About the position

The Health Unit Coordinator at AdventHealth Orlando plays a crucial role in supporting the nursing unit by performing essential non-clinical duties. This position is designed to ensure the efficient functioning of the nursing unit, aligning with the hospital's philosophy and goals. The coordinator will work under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse, contributing to patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, prioritizes, and transcribes all types of physician orders by completing the patient Kardex and proper care map.
• Notifies and calls other departments or physicians when necessary and places appropriate information on the chart, chart forms, computer, and electronic record.
• Accesses the medication room to place medications in a secure area upon medication arrival to the floor.
• Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Posts pertinent patient data timely.

Requirements

• Completion of Health Unit Coordinator Course or recent hospital experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, medical office, or outpatient clinic experience.
• Degrees or certification in Biomedical Science, Health Education, Healthcare Administration, Integrated Health Science, Psychology, Sociology, or completion of the 1st clinical semester of a nursing program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
