About the position

We have a new opening for a Business Operations Manager. The Manager, Business Operations is responsible for the business operations for a large department with 100 or more staff. This role encompasses a variety of functions related to financial management, budgeting, contract management, human resource planning, inventory management, purchasing, workflow, process management, and management of department-wide projects that may impact other departments or directorates. The Manager will also engage in strategic decision-making for department project identification and selection. Supporting the department director, the Manager, Business Operations ensures that processes and tools exist to maintain the daily operation of the assigned patient care department. This includes providing data collection and analysis to ensure the sustainability of the department's functions over time. The essential functions of this role include collaborating with department leadership and front-line staff to achieve operational improvements and provide optimum quality of care for patients. The Manager will develop and maintain operational and program policies and procedures that align with the department's objectives and meet all external compliance requirements. The role also involves coordinating the development and monitoring of internal systems to ensure correct coding and charge capture, analyzing volume, revenue, cost, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction trends to drive growth and profitability, and ensuring cost control and appropriate revenue enhancement. The Manager will establish and maintain performance standards, service excellence, and operational efficiency while meeting all regulatory requirements. Additionally, the position requires establishing relationships with community partner organizations and vendors to build effective workflows, overseeing contractual processes, and managing supply inventory and equipment maintenance. The Manager may also participate in capital and operational budget preparation, manage a variety of department-wide projects, and perform supervisory functions such as interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Evaluating compliance and implementing improvements to maintain adherence to regulatory agencies is also a key responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the business operations for a large department with 100 or more staff.
  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and contract management.
  • Plan human resources, inventory management, and purchasing.
  • Manage workflow and process management for the department.
  • Lead department-wide projects that may impact other departments or directorates.
  • Support the department director in maintaining daily operations of the patient care department.
  • Provide data collection and analysis to ensure sustainability of department functions.
  • Collaborate with department leadership and front-line staff to achieve operational improvements.
  • Develop and maintain operational and program policies and procedures.

  • Analyze volume, revenue, cost, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction trends.
  • Ensure cost control and appropriate revenue enhancement.
  • Establish and maintain performance standards and operational efficiency.

  • Oversee contractual processes and ensure performance metrics are met.
  • Control supply inventory, storage, and usage.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained appropriately and recommend purchases.
  • Analyze space needs and manage space renovation projects.
  • Participate in capital and operational budget preparation.
  • Perform supervisory functions including interviewing, training, and evaluating staff.
  • Evaluate compliance and implement improvements as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
  • Experience in OR/Surgery/Interventional Platform/Charge Coordination Business Operations is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse groups.
  • Ability to plan, organize, motivate, mentor, direct, and evaluate the work of others.
  • Ability to budget, make financial projections, and write reports.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations and impact of labor, productivity, and cost.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in OR/Surgery/Interventional Platform/Charge Coordination Business Operations.
