About the position

The Healthcare Customer Service Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing assistance with inquiries, scheduling, billing questions, and general healthcare support. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality patient care and requires excellent communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handle patient inquiries through phone, email, or chat about appointments, services, billing, and insurance.
  • Schedule, confirm, and modify appointments as needed, including follow-ups and cancellations.
  • Guide patients in understanding insurance benefits and address billing-related questions.
  • Address patient concerns and escalate issues when necessary to ensure a smooth resolution.
  • Partner with healthcare professionals and administrative teams to enhance the patient experience.
  • Accurately record patient interactions and updates in the electronic health records (EHR) system.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, insurance processes, and medical terminology is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and healthcare software (e.g., EPIC, Cerner).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field (preferred).
