Responsibilities

  • Utilize analytical skills to improve healthcare delivery at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their questions and needs regarding data.
  • Identify relevant data sources and assess their fitness for specific problems.
  • Analyze gaps in data and utilize appropriate tools and frameworks to derive insights.
  • Provide actionable insights to Healthcare Operations and Clinical SMEs.
  • Develop data queries and models to work with large and disparate datasets.
  • Build and tune algorithms using common data cleaning and machine learning techniques.

Requirements

  • Experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining.
  • Experience in data science, statistics, or machine learning in a professional setting.
  • Experience with large and disparate datasets, including developing data queries and data models.
  • Proficiency in languages or tools such as SQL, R, Python, or Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience in building and tuning algorithms, including using common data cleaning and machine learning techniques.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data, healthcare system operations, health plans, and medical groups.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience in the development of algorithms leveraging R, Python, or SQL and NoSQL.
  • Experience with visualization packages, including Plotly, Seaborn, or ggplot2.
  • Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Knowledge of data management and data infrastructure tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of public data sources for healthcare provider KPIs.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team to derive insights from unstructured healthcare data.
  • Ability to take initiative and a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including explaining analyses to a variety of audiences.
  • Master's degree.
