Responsibilities
- Utilize analytical skills to improve healthcare delivery at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their questions and needs regarding data.
- Identify relevant data sources and assess their fitness for specific problems.
- Analyze gaps in data and utilize appropriate tools and frameworks to derive insights.
- Provide actionable insights to Healthcare Operations and Clinical SMEs.
- Develop data queries and models to work with large and disparate datasets.
- Build and tune algorithms using common data cleaning and machine learning techniques.
Requirements
- Experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining.
- Experience in data science, statistics, or machine learning in a professional setting.
- Experience with large and disparate datasets, including developing data queries and data models.
- Proficiency in languages or tools such as SQL, R, Python, or Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience in building and tuning algorithms, including using common data cleaning and machine learning techniques.
- Knowledge of healthcare data, healthcare system operations, health plans, and medical groups.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree.
Nice-to-haves
- 2+ years of experience in the development of algorithms leveraging R, Python, or SQL and NoSQL.
- Experience with visualization packages, including Plotly, Seaborn, or ggplot2.
- Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Knowledge of data management and data infrastructure tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of public data sources for healthcare provider KPIs.
- Ability to work independently or in a team to derive insights from unstructured healthcare data.
- Ability to take initiative and a proactive problem-solving approach.
- Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including explaining analyses to a variety of audiences.
