About the position

The Lead or Senior QA Engineer position focuses on ensuring the quality and reliability of healthcare software applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the healthcare domain, particularly with standard message EDI formats such as HL7, X12, and NCPDP, as well as a strong understanding of HIPAA regulations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of various testing methodologies, including functional, API, integration, data integrity, regression, security, and performance testing. The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing test plans, identifying defects, and ensuring that the software meets the required standards before deployment. In addition to testing, the role involves heavy data validation and ETL process testing, requiring proficiency in SQL query writing and the ability to script automated test cases. Familiarity with multiple automation frameworks and recent experience with test automation tools is essential. The candidate should also have experience performing API testing using tools like Ready API, SoapUI, or Postman, and should be able to automate these processes effectively. The position requires a creative thinker who can optimize testing approaches and improve efficiency. Strong communication skills are necessary to convey technical concepts in a user-friendly manner and to facilitate collaboration among team members. The candidate should be adept at problem-solving, possess excellent organizational skills, and be able to prioritize tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment. Knowledge of Agile and DevOps processes, as well as process improvement methodologies such as LEAN, will be beneficial in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for healthcare software applications.
  • Perform various types of testing including functional, API, integration, data integrity, regression, security, and performance testing.
  • Conduct heavy data validation and ETL process testing.
  • Write SQL queries and script automated test cases.
  • Perform API testing using tools like Ready API, SoapUI, or Postman and automate these processes.
  • Collaborate with development teams to identify and resolve defects and conflicts.
  • Optimize testing approaches and improve efficiency through creative problem-solving.
  • Communicate technical concepts in a user-friendly manner to facilitate team collaboration.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in QA engineering, specifically in the healthcare domain.
  • Strong knowledge of standard message EDI formats such as HL7, X12, and NCPDP.
  • Experience with HIPAA regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in various types of testing methodologies including functional, API, integration, and performance testing.
  • Familiarity with multiple automation frameworks and recent experience with test automation tools.
  • Ability to perform API testing and automate API processes.
  • Strong SQL query writing skills and experience in scripting automated test cases.
  • Prior development experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
