About the position

The Healthcare Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the routine and preventive maintenance and repair of various building systems and equipment at Mayo Clinic. This role involves ensuring the functionality and safety of systems such as HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and medical gas systems, while also adhering to compliance standards. The technician will utilize computer systems for tracking work orders and will respond to emergency situations, ensuring a safe and operational environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment including HVAC, lighting, and plumbing.
• Utilize Computer Maintenance Management Program (CMMP) to receive, track, and close-out work orders.
• Respond to emergency situations such as fire, water leaks, and utility outages, coordinating with security and fire departments.
• Dispose of hazardous waste appropriately and ensure compliance with infection control policies.
• Maintain documentation and testing logs to comply with JCAHO, Federal, and State requirements.
• Drive a Mayo Clinic vehicle as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three years of related preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting experience.
• Trade-related certification or license in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or mechanical required.
• Basic understanding of Windows-based software and ability to utilize preventative maintenance programs.
• Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior hospital or clinic facilities maintenance experience preferred.
