About the position

The Healthcare Facility Manager at Boston Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the management and coordination of maintenance projects for the medical center's buildings. This role involves regular inspections, planning work requirements, and ensuring that all departments' support service needs are met. The manager will work independently while adhering to regulations and will supervise maintenance staff within the Department of Facilities Management.

Responsibilities

• Manage routine maintenance schedules for building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety equipment.
• Oversee cleaning and sanitation procedures throughout the facility.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance with contractors.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues.
• Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal healthcare facility regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and address safety concerns.
• Manage hazardous materials and waste disposal.
• Implement and maintain emergency preparedness plans.
• Plan and manage facility renovation or expansion projects.
• Work with architects, engineers, and contractors during construction phases.
• Oversee project budgets and timelines.
• Develop and manage the facility maintenance budget.
• Negotiate contracts with vendors and contractors.
• Track expenses related to facility operations.
• Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, cleaning staff, and other facility personnel.
• Schedule staff and assign tasks.
• Provide training and performance evaluations.
• Monitor and maintain building automation systems.
• Implement new technology solutions to optimize facility operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facilities management or 7-10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) credential preferred.
• Experience in healthcare facility management, including maintenance practices and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety standards.
