About the position

The Healthcare IT Project Manager at TEKsystems is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating healthcare IT projects to ensure they meet established goals within specified time frames and budgets. This role involves managing all aspects of projects, from initial meetings to post-implementation reviews, and requires collaboration with various internal divisions and external agencies to implement or upgrade healthcare operational and business applications, hardware, networks, and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and reviews project proposals to determine time frame, funding requirements, and procedures for accomplishing projects.
  • Manages the implementation and integration of assigned projects from inception to user sign-off, acting as a liaison between users, designers, technical personnel, and vendors.
  • Establishes work plans and staffing for each project phase, arranging for the selection or assignment of project personnel.
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plans and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
  • Prepares status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required, preparing project reports for management and clients.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
  • Attends planning and construction meetings.
  • Coordinates technical aspects of IT and telecommunications projects.
  • Meets with users to determine needs and establish performance criteria.
  • Oversees day-to-day management of projects, directing the completion of milestones and the work of internal and external subcontractors.
  • Maintains project information database and performs general upkeep of records and reports.
  • Analyzes user needs and expedites requested actions when necessary, meeting regularly with IS managers to review projects and priorities.
  • Participates in planning and formulation of design alternatives and solutions for projects, providing estimates and feasibility studies.
  • Researches and prepares reports pertaining to operations, equipment, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Care Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of full-time experience as a project manager or health systems analyst leading and managing projects.
  • Knowledge of health information exchanges and standard healthcare message formats.
  • Strong principles and practices of information technology project management.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CalAIM and Tapestry projects.
  • Familiarity with Epic systems.
  • Outpatient/ambulatory experience.
